That being the true case, the republican meme that President Obama already got his tax increase doesn't hold water. The country got a partial sunsetting of ill conceived temporary tax cuts. Budget and deficit negotiations have to start, not end with this reality as new revenues are sought.
So what is realistic for each party to bring to the table? The best and most important area has to be government waste. It is the one area that should be non-partisan in support. Everyone agrees that reported lunacies such as spending $56 for a box of paper clips is outrageous and must be stopped. Perhaps if the house and senate budget committees along with their innumerable aides pored over every line of every budget, they might find multi-billion dollar savings that could expand into the trillions over a ten year period. ... cont/-
